# Coach and client in the same workout: live sessions, chat media and folders

**Run a session from your side while your client logs it on their phone, send photos and video in chat, group every library into folders, and export branded workout PDFs.**

This release is mostly about the two of you being in the same place at the same time. You can run a session from your side while your client logs it on their phone, chat finally takes photos and video, and the libraries that have quietly filled up can be put into folders.

## Run the session with them

Open a client's workout and tap **Start session**. You are now logging the same workout they are: weights, reps, effort ratings, rest countdowns and the workout clock, on your screen and theirs at once. Tick a set on your iPad and it lands on their phone. They tick one on their phone and it lands on yours.

The clock is shared, pause included, so whoever hits pause pauses both screens. Each side can see who else is in the workout, and your client's screen says who is logging alongside them rather than leaving them to guess why the numbers moved.

If you need to change the workout mid-session, opening the editor pauses their logger under a notice rather than reshaping the sets under their hands. Their screen picks up the new version the second you save, and if your tab dies mid-edit the lock releases itself in about a minute and a half. The lock pauses logging, it never traps anyone.

A session you minimise follows you around the dashboard on a floating bar, so it cannot get lost behind a page, and it watches every client at once. That bar is also how you find out a client has started training on their phone. Discard ends the session for both of you, clears the logged sets and leaves the workout on the plan.

This is built for in-person and hybrid coaching, but it works just as well for an online client you are watching on a video call. The workout preview and the [**logger your clients already use**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/client-app-rebuilt) now draw the same set grid, so neither of you is translating between two layouts.

## Photos, videos and files in chat

There is a paperclip in the message composer now, on your side and your clients'. Photos and videos play in the thread instead of downloading. The ceilings are 10 MB for a photo, 100 MB for a video and 50 MB for a document, so a form check filmed on a phone goes straight into the conversation.

Nothing gets filed. A photo you send one client is a message, not a permanent library document, which is what used to happen when the library share modal was the only route in. Sharing a document from your library still works, from the same place it always did.

You can also turn a client's replies off, for one client from their permissions panel or for every new client under Account. Replies stay on unless you say otherwise, because a conversation is two-sided by default. The switch is there for the coaches who want a broadcast channel, and it sits in the same [**permissions list**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/client-self-service-permissions-check-ins) as workout editing.

## Folders for every library

Nine lists now group into folders: programmes, saved workouts, exercises, habits, library documents, meal plans, foods, recipes and supplements. Make a folder, file items into it, and it becomes a band in the table with its own count and its own rename and delete. An empty folder still shows, so a folder you made this morning for next month's block does not vanish until you fill it.

Folders reach the builders too. The workout builder's exercise and saved-workout lists wear the same bands, each with an **Add all** button that adds the folder in one gesture, and the exercise picker gained filter pills for category, muscle, equipment, provider and folder. The meal-plan builder's library has moved to a full-height rail on the left with the same bands on Recipes, Foods and Supplements.

If you have never made a folder, every list looks exactly as it did yesterday.

## Branded workout PDFs

Any workout can be exported as a PDF carrying your own logo and colours. The button is in the workout preview, in the editor behind the pencil, and in the program builder, so you can hand a printed plan to an in-person client or send one to somebody who is not in the app yet.

A calendar workout exports with its logged sets and completion on the page, which makes it a decent end-of-block record as well as a plan. A programme workout exports exactly what you are looking at, even before the programme has been saved, so you can print a draft while you are still writing it.

## Courses that hand over the work

A course can now carry your library content and deliver it when payment clears. Attach programmes, workouts, habits, meal plans and client-group membership on the course's Content tab, and a buyer gets the lot the moment Stripe confirms. Habits are laid down as an 84-day daily series. Meal plans are attachable on Plus and above.

That turns a course from a set of videos into something closer to a coaching product: somebody buys your 12-week strength course and wakes up with the programme on their calendar, the habits running, and their place in the group chat already sorted.

Buyers with no login can also set themselves up now. A Stripe purchase created the membership but never asked for a password, so the welcome email pointed at a door those buyers could not open. It points at a setup page instead, where they claim the account themselves. Courses can also bill weekly alongside monthly and yearly, a course at capacity stops selling instead of taking the money, and the feature list can be dragged into the order you want buyers to read it in.

If you are new to selling this way, [**how courses work**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/sell-and-assign-courses-to-clients) covers the setup.

## One food, several serving sizes

A food used to carry exactly one serving, so bread sold in slices and as a loaf meant picking one and asking your clients to weigh the other. A food now holds as many named servings as it really has, and they turn up everywhere a portion is set: the recipe editor, the meal-plan builder, the calendar and your client's diary. Recipe ingredients pick up the same control, so an added food starts on its own serving rather than 100 g.

Diary search got a lot better at the same time. It ranks results by how well the name matches and puts curated foods and your own recipes above barcode rows, so typing "chicken" opens with chicken instead of chicken-flavoured noodles. That matters more than it sounds when the [**food library**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/nutrition-food-diary-recipes-library) runs to tens of thousands of rows.

## On your side

Blog posts can be scheduled: give a post a publish date and it appears on your site that day, with a Scheduled badge in the list until it does. The Primary, Accent and background colour pickers take any colour you like now rather than only the presets, with a live hex field, which finishes the job [**custom fonts and brand colours**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/custom-fonts-brand-colours) started. Every editable website list (FAQs, team, gallery, testimonials, video gallery) can be dragged into the order you want.

Forms take a **Note** block, which is read-only copy for a disclaimer or a consent preamble, with a warning tone for the ones that need to be noticed. It is the first block in the [**form builder**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/client-onboarding-forms-questionnaires) that asks the client for nothing.

A programme item can belong to a week rather than a day. Put three sessions in the week's **Any day** lane and your client sees how many are left rather than three fixed dates they will move anyway. A client's type can be changed after setup, so somebody moving from in-person to online is not stuck with the wrong label. And the Activity, Training and Nutrition cards in [**a client's workspace**](https://boostfitness.io/blog/goals-client-workspace) carry view and edit actions, so you can see what you gave someone without opening a builder to find out.

## Key takeaways

- **Live sessions put you and your client in the same workout.** Start session logs from your side while they log from theirs, with a shared clock, synced pause and a floating bar that follows you around the dashboard.
- **Chat takes photos, videos and documents from both sides.** 10 MB a photo, 100 MB a video, 50 MB a document, and nothing lands in your library unless you put it there.
- **Nine libraries group into folders**, in the tables and inside the workout and meal-plan builders, with Add all on every band.
- **Courses deliver your library content on purchase**, and buyers who arrive without a login can set up their own account instead of hitting a dead end.

## Ready to see it in action?

If you already coach with Boost, the fastest way to feel the difference is to open a client's workout on your next in-person session and tap Start session. Folders are on every library page under the folder button in the toolbar, and Export PDF is in the workout preview.

If you are still deciding, [**start your free trial**](https://boostfitness.io/register) and put a real client week into it. There is no card needed, and everything above is included.
