Body stats and progress photos: your clients' results, on the record

The last couple of updates were mostly about food: the Meal Planner, then fourteen ready-made plans and a rebuilt food diary. This one is about what the food and the training add up to. Clients can now track their body stats and progress photos inside their app, and coaches can see and manage the whole record from their side.

Body stats and progress photos

Clients get a new Progress page in their app. An entry is as light or as thorough as they want it to be: weight on its own, or weight plus body fat, muscle mass, and seven tape measurements covering chest, waist, hips, both biceps and both thighs. They can attach front, side and back photos to any entry, and add a note about how the week actually went.

The page turns those entries into a trend chart and summary tiles: the latest number, the change since the last entry, and the change overall. The chart switches between whichever metrics the client has logged. A client who only ever records weight is not made to stare at empty thigh charts.

There's one entry per date. Saving the same day again updates the existing entry rather than stacking a duplicate, so a client who weighed in this morning and remembered the tape measure at lunch just opens the day and adds to it.

The coach side: a Stats tab on every client

Every client profile now has a Stats tab. From there you can browse their full history, open their photos, and enter measurements yourself.

That last part matters if you weigh clients in person. The numbers from a gym-floor weigh-in go straight into the same record the client sees in their app, so there's one history per client rather than a spreadsheet on your side and an app on theirs.

Progress photos are private. The client sees them, their coach sees them, and that is the whole list.

Pounds or kilograms, inches or centimetres

Body stats arrive with a new measurement system setting, kept separate from the unit clients lift in, because plenty of people squat in kilos and weigh themselves in something else entirely.

Coaches pick theirs in Account under Configuration. Clients pick theirs on their own account page, which is the first setting they've been able to change for themselves. And nobody has to touch it to get something sensible: clients who log their lifts in pounds see imperial body stats, everyone else sees metric.

Fixes and polish

A few smaller things we tidied up along the way:

  • Client streaks were miscounting in some cases. The sums are fixed and we recalculated every streak in the history, so the number on screen is now the number they earned.
  • A finished workout now looks finished. On the client side, completed sets are clearly marked and the screen reads as a record of the session rather than another editor.
  • Clicking outside a builder window no longer closes it, so a stray click can't bin ten minutes of edits.
  • On the Clients table, the name column stays put while the rest scrolls sideways.
  • We have a new logo. The barbell bends now, as a proper barbell should.

Key takeaways

  • Clients can log body stats and progress photos on a new Progress page: weight, body fat, muscle mass, seven measurements, and front, side and back photos.
  • Coaches get a Stats tab on every client for browsing history and entering in-person weigh-ins into the same record.
  • Everyone picks their own units, with a sensible default based on how they already log their lifts.
  • Streaks now count correctly, with every historical streak recalculated.
